Lynn, Ma — Jennie (Chiaradonna) Silva died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Marie, on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at the age of 96. A devout Catholic, her family takes comfort in the fact that she left this life on the holy day of the Assumption of Mary. Jennie was the third of nine children born to her late parents Salvatore and Maria (Faia) Chiaradonna of Lynn, Mass. The epitome of a “hot ticket,” Jennie loved to dance - especially at the Knights of Columbus, where she and her late husband of more than 60 years, John Silva Jr., were active members for many years - cook, tend the garden at her cottage in New Hampshire, spend time with family, and remind you to pull your shirt down in the back. There was no shortage of laughter in her company as her wits far surpassed her size, and she loved keeping people on their toes with her quick sense of humor. While we’re sorry that Jennie never made it to the Smucker’s jar like her husband predicted, we know that she can now find rest and peace being reunited with all of her loved ones in heaven.
Jennie is survived by her daughter, Marie Silva of Beverly, Mass.; her son, John Silva III, and his wife, Christine, who now care for Jennie's beloved dog, Duke, in Efland, N.C.; her grandchildren, Eric and his girlfriend, Jenn; Nina and Charlie and their sons, Nana's great-grandchildren, John and Charles Jr.; Lisa and her husband, Hadrien, and Sara and her boyfriend, Chris; her sister, Carmella and her husband, John Beary of Orange, Mass.; her sister-in-law Rose Pais of Peabody, Mass.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families. Jennie is predeceased by her brothers, John, Michael and Albert Chiaradonna; her sisters, Josephine Rowen, Anna Abramo, Lillian Borrelli, and Ellen Liberge; and her granddaughter, Jackie Silva.
The family would like to thank Drs. Fredric Shmase, Neil Mann, and Lisa Ceplikas; as well as Barbara, Angela, Jen, Toni, Pam, and their colleagues from Hospice of the North Shore; the staff at SCO; the PCA Program of Northeast ARC; and Edith and Rosa for the compassion and care they provided Jennie and her family.
