BEVERLY — Lorraine G. (Acciavatti) Mead, 84, beloved wife of the late Robert E. Mead, passed away Wednesday, August 28, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Simone and Romilda (Varrato) Acciavatti.
Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Beverly and graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1947. She worked for her family at the Acciavatti Market in Beverly until its closing and then for many years Lorraine was employed as a bank teller at the Salem Five Bank in Salem. Lorraine loved to cook and play cards. She was an attentive listener, nurturing care giver, and wonderful aunt. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by three sisters, Theresa Gorini of Wenham, Matilda Hyde of Beverly and Amelia Pendelton of Danvers; along with several nieces, nephew and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Armand Richiuts and Thomas Acciavatti and her sisters, Anne Bucci, Valia Morin and Desolina Ward.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell-Lee, Moody Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., North Beverly on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
