Raymond J. Poor, 89

Wenham — Raymond J. Poor, 89, of Wenham, MA died peacefully on October 5, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased in life by his devoted wife, Meredith. Ray leaves his sons, Mark J. Poor and his wife, Sheryl, of Manchester, NH, Jeffrey R. Poor and his wife, Anne, of Peabody and his daughter, Marilyn Gifford of Swampscott.

Ray spent his professional career working for the Sylvania Lighting Company within the engineering and photography departments. He was particularly proud to mentor a Northeastern University Co-op student in career development. As an avid golfer and skier, Ray relished the challenge of the course or trail while capturing the aesthetics of the landscape through his camera lens. A gifted photographer with a keen eye, Ray’s photographs often told stories without words. A classic “old school” gentleman, Ray will be remembered for his quick wit, unspoken acts of kindness and as a steadfast friend.
