South Hamilton — Muriel E. (“Moo”) Perry, age 86, of South Hamilton, wife of the late George W. (“Scundi”) Perry, Jr., with whom she shared 59 years of marriage, died Saturday, October 13. She was born in Ipswich, daughter of the late George and Emily Landers. “Moo” graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1943. She attended evening classes at Salem Commercial School while working at the United Shoe Machinery Corp., Research Division.
“Moo” was a member of the Women’s Merchants Bowling League for 34 years and held many trophies for her achievements. She was a member of the Bowl-O-Mat Championship Pro team that won the world’s trophy in 1964-65.
She was also a member of the Dane Street Congregational Church and taught Sunday school for several years.
After her children reached their teens, she volunteered for the Beverly Chapter of the American Red Cross at many bloodmobiles, was then hired as the blood secretary, later becoming Executive Director, retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service.
Surviving her are her son, Stephen Perry of Salem and daughter Kristine Brown of Beverly; four grandsons, Craig Perry of Winthrop, Ryan Perry and his wife Caitlin of Danvers, Jason Brown and his wife Krista of Ashland and Scott Brown of Beverly; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Aidan, twins Ryan, Jr. and Sienna Perry of Danvers and Asher Brown of Ashland as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Douglas Perry, sister of the late Bernice Cook, Margery Follett, Robert Landers and G. Alfred Landers III and mother-in-law of the late John T. Brown.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane Street, Beverly (downtown location), Thursday, October 18, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in the North Beverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Muriel has requested that donations be made to the John T.
