WATERTOWN — Jane D. Baker of Watertown, MA, originally from Marblehead, died February 18th at the age of 86.
Predeceased by her younger sister, Susan B. Chase, she leaves a small loving family; brother-in-law Gordon A. Chase of Altamont, NY, niece, Laurie J. Chase of Fallsburg, NY, and nephews, Robert A. Chase of San Francisco and Bradford A. Chase of East Greenbush, NY with his wife Teresa and their two sons, Brayton and Austin.
After graduation from Marblehead High School and Middlebury College, she traveled in Europe before beginning a teaching career of forty years, first at Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, NH and Abbot Academy in Andover, MA, but primarily and very happily at Beaver Country Day School, Chestnut Hill, MA, where teaching English to lively seventh graders was her greatest love. Other interests included traveling, gardening; walking her dog Gigi, following politics, the Boston Red Sox, reading for the Blind and Dyslexic, and enjoying family and friends. Her positive attitude and cheerful ways will be greatly missed by her family, by her many friends, and by her former students. She led a happy life.
