Myra Clunie, 91, formerly of Danvers, passed peacefully on February 4. Myra was raised in Great Neck, NY, and attended Hofstra University. Her family summered in Maine where she met her husband, Frederick Clunie of Newcastle. Myra worked for NBC in NY while Fred served with the Marines in WWII. Son Jeffrey and daughter Barbara were born in Houlton, ME. Upon Fred’s return from the Korean War, they lived in Massachusetts where son Richard was born, settling in Danvers where they had many friends. Fred worked as Guidance Director for 24 years in Peabody and Marblehead schools.
They retired to Maine where Myra continued her work with Red Cross, raised dogs, and painted birds carved by Fred.
Myra leaves Jeffrey of Medfield, MA; Barbara Kiviniemi of Newcastle; and Richard of Newburyport, MA with respective families, including six grandchildren: Wesley, Andrew, Lindsay, Lesley, Paige, and Hope. A service will be held in Newcastle in April.
