Paul J. Szikney, 76 of Peabody, died Friday February 3, 2012 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna (Salka) Szykniej. Paul grew up in Salem, attended St. John the Baptist Grammar School and Salem High School.
A United States Navy Veteran, Paul proudly served his country during the Korean War from August 1954 to his honorable discharge in July 1958.
Prior to his retirement Paul had been employed in the construction industry, with his brother, for many years and also dug clams throughout the North Shore.
Paul was a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #240 of Lynn.
Surviving him is a brother, Stephen Stickney of Boxford; two sisters, Helen Towne of Peabody; Sophie Bussone and her husband Robert of Beverly; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also the brother of the late Boley, John and Alphonse Szikney, Caroline Parsons, Stacia Smith and Jennie Dupuis.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held in the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
