North Adams, MA — Chris John Christopher, 59, of 205 East Quincy St., North Adams, MA, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Albany Medical Center after heroically fighting a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Cyprus in the village of Kyrenia on October 18, 1953, a son of John and Crystalla (Hassapis) Christopher of Salem, Mass.
He attended North Shore Community College and graduated in 1974. In 1976, Chris obtained his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Boston University, and his Master's degree in Business Administration from Western New England College in 1984.
Chris was employed for many years with Aramark as a manager of environmental services. He worked at many hospitals including North Adams Regional Hospital, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, and the Hillcrest School System. He was last employed at Albany Medical Center.
He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of North Adams, where he was a member of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He and his wife also managed several rental properties in the area. Chris was a dedicated and devoted husband and father. Although he was small in stature, he had a giant personality. He was best known for his warm, friendly and smiling ways. He was an eternal optimist. Chris also enjoyed restoring new life to old or broken things. Most of all, he enjoyed attending his children’s games and sharing times with his close-knit family.
Survivors include his wife, Caoilfhionn (Antrim) Christopher, whom he married on July 14, 1974 in Lynn, Mass.; seven children, Aaron Christopher of North Adams, Fiona Christopher and her husband, Kevin Sullivan, of San Francisco, Calif., Seth Christopher and his wife, Charlotte, of Pittsfield, Mass., Siobhan Christopher of Oakland, Calif., Caleb Christopher of Williamstown, Mass., Keegan Christopher of North Adams, Mass., and Tehya Christopher of North Adams, Mass.; five grandchildren, Chase Christopher, who resided with him, Elliana, Autumn, and Quentin Christopher of Pittsfield, Mass., and Lilly Christopher of Williamstown, Mass.; and one sister, Dina Chamatsos and her husband, John, of Peabody, Mass.
ARRANGEMENTS: The funeral for Chris John Christopher will be on Friday May 3, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
