Salem, MA — William F. Anketell, 66, of Salem, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, in the Everett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Everett, with his dear friend and companion, Alma Pelletier, by his side following a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Silva) Anketell.
Born and educated in Salem, Bill was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1964. As a young man, Bill had been employed for several years at Parker Brothers. He then continued his working career at Pepperidge Farms as a truck driver for 10 years, and most recently, Bill managed a Voortman Cookie route prior to retiring due to illness.
Billy loved to be around people and belonged to several clubs and organization; the Italian Community Club, Elks BPOE #1309, the Union Club and the American Legion Herman A. Spear Post 331 all of Beverly.
Surviving him in addition to his companion, Alma, is his sister, Carol Olson of Hamilton; a niece, Lori Manoogian and her husband, Michael of Peabody; a nephew, Michael Olson and his wife, Kelli of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandnieces; a grandnephew; his uncle, Raymond Silva of Beverly; his aunt, Lucille Cronin of California; and many cousins and friends all of who will miss him dearly.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem/Peabody line on Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to meet at the church.
