DANVERS — Mrs. Jane L. (Dowdell) Nolan, 76, of Danvers, beloved wife of Edward Charles Nolan, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Radius Danvers, surrounded by her family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Hilda May (Dupray) Dowdell. She was raised and educated in Salem, and attended the former St. James Grammar School and the former St. James High School in Salem.
Mrs. Nolan had been employed as a secretary at GTE Sylvania at the Endicott Street Facility in Danvers for 13 years. Following the birth of her children, she had been employed in the Danvers Public Schools cafeterias.
A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Jane was a communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Danvers. She enjoyed bowling and played in many tournaments over the years, as well as being a member of the Sylvania Bowling League.
In addition to her loving husband of 50 years, Jane is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Hill of Manchester, N.H.; her son, Christopher Nolan and his wife, Amy of Danvers; her three grandchildren, Leibriana, Cieasha and Kyleah Hill; her sister, Sandra Dowdell;her brother, Jack Dowdell; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Cynthia Burns and Patricia Saffer.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Route 62, Danvers, on Thursday, June 27, at 8:15 a.m., followed by her funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Wednesday, June 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jane's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
