Mildred H. (Fortier) Anstey, 93


Peabody — Mildred Helen Anstey (Fortier), wife of 57 years to the late Kermit Anstey, passed away peacefully at her home in Peabody, Friday morning, March 7, at the age of 93. She was the beloved daughter of the late Orlando and Sarah Fortier. Her siblings Arthur, Harold, and Alice preceded her in death several years ago. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Barbara Wheeler of Townsend, Mass., and Linda Palmer of Burlington, Mass.; five grandchildren, Greg Palmer and his wife, Karla, Todd Palmer and his wife, Susan, Jeff Palmer and his partner, Cynthia, Scott Wheeler and his wife, Cheryl, and Toby Wheeler. In addition to her five grandchildren, she was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, whom she was very passionate about. Born in Malden, Mass., she was a graduate of Malden High, Class of 1939. Shortly after marrying her sweetheart, Kermit, they built a home in Peabody, where she lived until her passing. After moving to Peabody, Mildred was employed by CBS Hytron and Shetland Industries for many years. Mildred enjoyed gardening with her husband, and together they transformed their yard into a botanical garden. She also enjoyed hosting delicious clam bakes and holiday events. Following retirement, she and Kermit wintered in their home in Daytona Beach, Fla. Mildred was an avid card and bingo player, who rarely passed up an opportunity to play. She was known as a very kind and compassionate woman, who loved her family very much.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral is from Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Route 129, Lynn, Mass., at 12 p.m., on Friday, March 14, followed by interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake Street, Peabody.
