Beverly — Albert E. Johnson, 90, beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Riley) Johnson, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Beverly Hospital.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Louisa (Massi) Johnson.
A highly decorated and honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army, where he was the recipient of two Purple Heart medals, and a Combat Infantry Badge.
Mr. Johnson had been employed for many years by the City of Beverly in its public works department and was the general foreman at the time of his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen Babinski and her husband, Craig, of Gloucester, Dorothy Clark of Indianapolis, Ind., Margaret Rodenhiser and her husband, Howard, of Sparks, Nev., Albert E. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Lynnfield, and Tracey Kinsman and her fiancé, Bill Campbell of Beverly; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Doyle of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Campbell–Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, on Saturday, March 22, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
