Gloucester — Mr. Charles Albert Harvey, 93, of Gloucester, beloved husband of the late Phyllis B. (O’Rourke) Harvey, died Thursday morning at Den Mar Nursing Home in Rockport.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Henry A. and Grace J. (Crowdis) Harvey. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Salem Schools. He continued his education at the Boston School of Pharmacy.
An honorably discharged veteran, Charles served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Harvey had been employed with New England Telephone for over 38 years in the Boston and North Shore Regions, where he acted as a Personnel Manager and Staff Supervisor until the time of his retirement in 1982.
A longtime resident of the City of Beverly, Charles moved to Gloucester in 1995. He was a dedicated member of the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church in Gloucester and a member of the Holy Name Society at the church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Marcia J. Harvey of Danvers, Joanne Gibbs and her husband, Richard, of Gloucester and Carol Wilson and her husband, Dennis, of Magnolia; his daughter-in-law, Whitney Harvey of Portland, Maine; his ten grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard Harvey of Florida and Robert Harvey of Derry, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Atty. Charles A. Harvey Jr., grandfather of the late Lisa J. Sparaco and brother of the late Henry A. Harvey, Ruth Kilthau and M. Frances Zappi.
