Marblehead — John Hadaway “Jack” Folger, age 89, of Marblehead, husband of the late Helen H. (Horton) Folger, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, in the Devereux House Marblehead. John was born in Swampscott, MA, on October 28, 1922, the son of the late Ernest and Florence Folger and had attended Norwich Academy.
Mr. Folger served as a Captain in General Patten’s Army during World War II.
After the War he began his career at General Electric Co. in Cleveland, Ohio where he met and later married his late wife Helen (Horton) Folger in 1949.
In 1960 they moved the family to Marblehead when he became a consultant for Cole Associates. Mr. Folger later founded Folger and Company in 1972, an international consulting company in Boston he operated until retiring after a long successful career.
He was a founding member of the Society of Management Consultants and the Marblehead Bubble Club. An avid boater, he was a member of the Corinthian and Eastern Yacht Club as well as the Whiting Club.
Mr. Folger is survived by two children John Folger, Jr. and his wife Janet of Marblehead and Diane Kern and her husband John of Torrence, CA; A grandson John Folger III of Nashua, NH, and his brother Phillip Folger of Salem.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Grace Community Church, Pleasant St., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North Street), Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
