Peabody — Mr. John A. McCormack, 75, of Peabody, formerly of Chelsea and Middleton, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Day) McCormack, died on April 19, 2014, following a lengthy illness, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, surrounded by his family.
Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late John L. and Lillian (MacLoed) McCormack. He was raised and educated in Chelsea, and was a graduate of Everett Vocational High School.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. McCormack bravely served the City of Chelsea, as a firefighter for many years.
He was a resident of the city of Peabody for 33 years, and a former resident of the town of Middleton for 15 years. John enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling the United States in their motor home, visiting 37 states. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., Chelsea.
Surviving him, in addition to his loving wife of 55 years, is his son, John A. McCormack II of Peabody; his daughter, Cheryl Billert and her husband, Peter, of Amesbury; three grandchildren, Kurt Blais and his wife, Megan (Clune) of Danvers, Brad McCormack of Dracut, and Peter Jared Billert of Amesbury; and a great-grandson, Bentley Blais of Danvers.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Route 62, Danvers, on Wednesday, April 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a funeral service, at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
