Gustave "Gus" Emile Burke, 84


Lynn — Mr. Gustave “Gus” Emile Burke, 84 years, of Lynn, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in Salem Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Mrs. Jeannette E. (Comeau) Burke. He was born in Sluice Point, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Frederick “Dickie” and Emile (Pothier) Burke. He has lived in Lynn for most of his life.

Gus was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a ten gallon blood donor with the American Red Cross. As a young man in Nova Scotia, he played semi-professional hockey. He was an avid fisherman who loved sailing and boating. His most cherished moments were spent with family and friends at home and at Little Sebago Lake in Maine.

Gus was employed as a Master Electrician working for the City of Lynn and the Lynn School Department, from which he retired.

In addition to his loving wife with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, he leaves his children; Paul Burke and his wife Alicia of Bedford, NH, Diana Mallard and her husband George of Peabody, Marc Burke and his wife Judy of Pelham, NH, his grandchildren, Jennifer Larochelle and her husband Scott, John Bobrek and his wife Ashley, Lauren Bobrek, Whitney Burke and a great grandchild, Jackson Larochelle. He is the brother of Sylvie d’Entremont of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and the late Jacqueline Bourque, Frederick, Helene, James and Gerald Burke. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins, here and in Canada.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012, at 9 AM from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rte. 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody, MA, at 10 AM.
