PEABODY — Mrs. Adelaide Ruth (Kroll) Grimm 90, of Brooksby Village Peabody, a registered nurse, wife of Alfred E. Grimm, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at the Brooksby Village Renaissance Gardens in Peabody.
Born in Passaic, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elfrida (Ristan) Kroll, she was raised and educated in Clifton, New Jersey.
An honorably discharged veteran, Adelaide served for three years during W orld War II as a nurse in the United States Navy and was stationed in bases all over the United States.
Mrs. Grimm had been employed as a registered nurse at the Newark Presbyterian Hospital in New Jersey. She was a member of the Mount Burnett Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Danvers, she was a member of the Topsfield Garden Club, a member and past president of the Tops/Box Community Club and a longtime member of the Congregational Church of Topsfield.
In addition to her husband, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, she is survived by her children, Alfred Douglas Grimm of Virginia, Gretchen Grimm of Guam, Jean Isabella of New York, Susan Turvin of Knoxville, Tenn., Timothy Grimm of Maryland; one grandson, Matthew Turvin of Knoxville, Tenn. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Kroll. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
ARRANGEMENTS: Ruth's memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Peabody, Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
