TOPSFIELD — Mr. Dominick "John" DiBenedetto, 82, of Beverly, died Monday, September 24, 2012, at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
John, a longtime resident of Boston, was born in Orsogna, Italy. He was the son of the late Nicola and Francesca (Tanaglia) DiBenedetto. Dominick immigrated to the United States in 1936 at the age of six entering through Ellis Island and residing in Queens, N.Y., where he was raised.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
An entrepreneur, John was the proprietor of a hair styling salon, a sandwich shop, was active in real estate, and owned and operated a taxicab in Boston.
Mr. DiBenedetto enjoyed traveling, painting and spending time in Boston. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.
Mr. DiBenedetto is survived by his daughters, Vicki Blais of Topsfield, Jaqueline Whelan and her husband Christopher of Concord and Andrea DiBenedetto of Woolwich, Maine; his son, Nicholas DiBenedetto and his wife Dana of Boxford, his six grandchildren, Amy Morgan, Catherine and Maria Whelan and Anthony, Kara and Grace DiBenedetto, his sister Connie Taffuri of West Islip, N.Y., his longtime dear friend Sarah Fader of Ipswich, and several nieces and nephews.
