Swampscott — David Zelermyer, age 88 of Swampscott, died on Wednesday after a lengthy illness in Salem Hospital. Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Brookline High School and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He had previously lived in Salem for many years. He owned and operated Allen’s Pharmacy in Manchester-by-the Sea from 1954 to 1979. He later worked as a pharmacist at Eaton’s Pharmacy in Swampscott for many years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge in Lynn, Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington and volunteered at the Shriners Burn Hospital in Boston. He was a member of Cong. Shirat Hayam in Swampscott. He was an avid music lover and Red Sox fan.
Beloved husband of the late Annie (Axelrod) Zelermyer. Devoted father of Harriet and her late husband William Wallen of Swampscott, Cheryl and her husband Robert Andler of Rochester, N.Y., Phyllis and her husband David Wald of Newton. Loving brother of the late Rose Dashefsky, Samuel, Max, and William Zelermyer. Cherished grandfather of nine Grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St., Salem-Swampscott line, on Friday, September 28, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Sons of Jacob Cemetery, Danvers. Memorial Observance following the interment until 4 p.m., Saturday evening, and Sunday until 4 p.m., at the home of Harriet Wallen.
