Salem — Rita L. (Belleau) Pare, 80, of Salem, died peacefully Monday, December 16, 2013, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness, with her daughters and her beloved long-time companion, Robert Provost, at her side.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Rosilda (Guinard) Belleau and was a resident of Salem for most of her life.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, family was most important in Rita’s life. She loved to have the family together and enjoyed being part of their lives. Rita will be deeply missed by her family and many friends, as well as her dogs, Buddy and Jake. Rita loved simple pleasures throughout her life, including camping, boating, and frequent trips to the Salem Willows. She was an avid card and bingo player and a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Surviving her in addition to her companion Bob are five daughters, Susan Pare of California, Dawn Slaney-Rothman and her late husband, Max of Alaska, Lynda Slaney-Chansky and her husband, Bruce of Worcester, Christina Slaney-Cloutier and her husband, Marc of Amesbury, Paula Pare and her wife, Rosemary Bromberg of Beverly; and a sister, Doris Ouellette of Amesbury. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Gabriel, Jamey, and Abraham Gioffre, Erica, Justin, Brittany Cloutier, and Rebecca Cloutier-Page, Ryan Pare, Brett and Bryan Chansky; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rita was also the wife of the late Paul Pare; mother of the late Collette Pare; and sister of the late Edward, Alfred and Armand Belleau.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral will be held from the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. James Church, Salem at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
