Sally (Malliaros) Robinson, 85

Lowell and Danvers, MA — Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Sally (Pelekasis) (Malliaros) Robinson, 85, a member of a well-known Greater Lowell family, died Thursday morning in Lowell at a local nursing home.

She was the beloved wife of James A. Robinson Jr. of Danvers and the widow of the late Aristomenis “Minnie” Malliaros, who died in 1993.

Born in Lowell, Mass., November 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Victor and the late Ethel (Kanavos) Pelekasis. She attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1946.

As a young lady, Sally worked at Cherry and Webb’s Department store. She later opened a women’s department in Malliaros Clothing Company of Lowell, where she worked with her husband, Minnie for many years. “That’s what they’re wearing” was heard from Sally often.

A former member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club and Longmeadow Golf Club, Sally played golf at Vesper Country Club for many years and won the prestigious Lamson Cup twice.

A terrific cook, she made fabulous spanakopita along with many other Greek specialties.

Sally enjoyed the atmosphere at Rockingham Park, and she loved to travel. She vacationed in Miami Beach and Las Vegas in the days of Jackie Gleason and Elvis. Wearing a kerchief with the roof down in Minnie’s 1960 Pontiac Bonneville, she drove to New Rochelle, N.Y., to visit her big sister, Mary Rallis, and it was a road trip she made often and cherished.

Besides her husband, Sally is survived by a daughter Gail Malliaros–Golec and her husband, Hank of Pelham, N.H.; two sons, Atty. George A. Malliaros and his wife, Iris of Dracut, and Victor A. Malliaros of Pepperell; five grandchildren, Joshua L. Richardson, Frances A. Cesar, Leah Malliaros, Zoe Malliaros, and Ari Malliaros; three great-grandchildren, Sergio D. Douglass and his wife, Dr. Nanette Lashay of Portola Valley, Calif.; three sister-in-laws, Lillian Pelekasis of Lowell, Connie Pelley of Chelmsford, and Demetra Harvalos of Long Beach, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
