Lyman, Maine — The Rev. Oscar Warren Swensen, 82, of Munnick Point Road, passed away April 3, 2014, at the Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford. He was born in Arlington, MA, on October 24, 1931, the son of Walter and Gunhild Swensen.
Oscar graduated from Arlington High School in 1948. He then graduated from Harvard University, where he played ice hockey.
He served in the U.S. Army as an instructor for artillery at West Point.
Returning to Cambridge, MA, he attended Divinity School and was ordained as an Episcopal priest.
His first parish was in Derry, NH, followed by Calvary Episcopal Church in Danvers, MA, for over 35 years. While in Danvers, he became a member of the Kiwanis Club and continued his membership in Lyman.
Oscar and his family retired to Lyman, ME, in the house that he and his family built.
He enjoyed coin collecting, ice hockey, reading and animals, especially cats.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years of marriage, Constance Swensen of Lyman; 3 daughters, Kristen Hicks of Wenham, MA, Bara Sargent of Eliot, and Sonje Swensen of Gorham; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 13 Cleveland St., Saco. Rev. David Robinson will officiate.
