Beverly — Joseph L. Tosi, 89, beloved husband of Nancy M. (Rea) Tosi, died on Sunday, April 6, at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late John and Susan (Necco) Tosi. Joseph was raised and educated in Beverly, and a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1943. Joe worked for Connolly Brothers Construction Co. in Beverly for 40 years as yard superintendent. He also served his country in the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard, from which he was honorably discharged. Joe was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Michael J. Cadigan Jr., American Legion Post 46, the West Beach Corporation, and St. Margaret Church for many years. Joe was an avid Bruins and Red Sox fan, who also enjoyed golfing and gardening. One of Joe’s favorite activities was spending time with his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, who will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his son, Larry Tosi and his wife, Jan, of Beverly; his two daughters, Cynthia Allen and her husband, Clifford, of Beverly, and Anne McDermott and her husband, Michael, of Wenham; his grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Tosi, Kate Schultz, and Emily McDermott; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Michael Tosi, and Sam and Leo Schultz. He is also survived by his two brothers, Francis Tosi and his wife, Marie, of Rhode Island, and John Tosi of Florida; a sister, Mary Johnson of Hamilton; and his brother-in-law, Mario Rea of Beverly. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Church, 672 Hale Street, Beverly Farms, on Thursday, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral Mass at the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Beverly Farms Cemetery.
