Peabody — Grace V. (Snipes) Macrinotis, 90, of Peabody, wife of the late Louis Macrinotis, died with her family by her side at the Continuing Care at Brooksby Village on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
Mrs. Macrinotis was born in Irwin, N.C., on March 4, 1924, daughter of James and Minnie (Dorman) Snipes. She was raised and educated in North Carolina. In 1950 she and her family moved to Peabody.
Mrs. Macrinotis was employed for many years as a sales clerk at Empires Department Store in Salem until it’s closing and then at Filene’s at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody until her retirement in 1986. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family. Grace was a member at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and also a member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Macrinotis is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Lana and Robert Danish of Stratham, N.H., Julia and Stephen Velonis of Topsfield, and Susan and Robert DeVenne of West Newbury; a sister, Helen Sims of Texas; a sister-in-law, Penelope Karahalis of Peabody; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Carlyle Snipes and Paul Snipes, and her brothers-in-law, John Karahalis, James and Nicholas Macrinotis.
ARRANGEMENTS: Grace’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, which will be followed by her funeral service on Tuesday at noon at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody.
