Danvers — Susan Mae (MacNeill) Mullen, beloved wife of the late Thomas C. Mullen, Jr., passed away on Sunday at home surrounded by her family. She was 59. Born in Beverly, she was the cherished daughter of Elizabeth M. (Russell) MacNeill and the late Melvin P. MacNeill. A graduate of Hamilton-Wenham High School, Susan went on to earn an associates degree from the Essex Argicultural and Technical School. A Licensed Practical Nurse, Susan touched many lives through her care at the Twin Oakes Nursing Home and later at Beverly Hospital, where she worked in the Maternity Ward. She loved to spend time traveling, walking the beach and camping, arts and crafts. An excellent athlete, she not only enjoyed playing basketball and softball, but also coached softball for Danvers Youth Sports. She also served as troop leader with the Girl Scouts. Above all, she enjoyed time spent with her family, grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, grand-dogs and cats and her friends.
In addition to her mother Elizabeth, she is survived by her son Thomas C. Mullen, III and his wife Jennifer; her daughter Jennifer M. Mullen; grandchildren: Alyssa & Ava Mullen, Baxter & Kadie Mullen (canine), Sebastian, Chase and Henry Mullen (feline), and her partner David Smith of Gloucester. She was a good friend and sister to James MacNeill and his wife Janet, Richard MacNeill and his wife Cheryl, and Jane Mitchell and her husband Deane. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband and father, she was predeceased by her son Robert P. Mullen.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held in the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 9 Dane St., Downtown Beverly, on Friday, May 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
