MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — Mrs. Doris Hemlow (Hoare) Connors, 99, beloved wife of the late John P. “Jack” Connors, died Friday morning, December 28, 2012, at her home.
Born in July 1913 in Manchester-by-the-Sea, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Henry and Ethel L. Hoare. She graduated from Manchester High School and continued her education earning a degree in Journalism from Boston University.
Mrs. Connors had been employed as the head librarian at the Manchester Public Library until the time of her retirement in 1980.
She was much involved with art and was an active member of the Guild of Beverly Artists. She was also a member of the Manchester Historical Society and the Cape Ann Animal Aid.
She and her husband, Jack traveled extensively and greatly enjoyed time with family and friends.
Doris is survived by her sister, Evelyn Mackel of Danvers and several nieces and nephews including, Dawn Papamechail and her husband, Michael of Danvers; Sandra Rau and her husband, Paul of Arizona; Steven Mackel and his wife, Kathy. She was also survived by special friends, Katherina Gates and Davie Greene as well as her caretaker, Albertha McKenzie.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at the Campbell–Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location), Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visiting hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Doris’ memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester.
