Rita T. Millett, 86

Woburn — Millett, Rita T. (Allain) of Woburn, formerly of Bartow, Fla., and Salem, passed away peacefully on January 3 at the Winchester Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert O. Millett Sr. and together they shared 66 years of marriage. Born and raised in Salem, Rita was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Lodia (Bastarache) Allain.

Rita was a 1944 graduate of Salem High School. She worked for 25 years as a lab technician with the Polaroid Co. prior to her retirement. In 1982, after her husband's retirement they moved to Bartow, Fla., where they lived for 18 years before returning to Woburn 12 years ago to be closer to family. Mostly devoted to her family, Rita enjoyed playing cards, scrabble and attending bingo with her many friends. In her younger years Rita also enjoyed square dancing. Rita had strong Catholic faith and was very active at St. Barbara Church in Woburn. She truly enjoyed people and was very involved at the Woburn Senior Center where she enjoyed helping people with preparing their taxes.

She is survived by her son, Alan Millett and his companion, Vikki Lawrence of Florida and her daughter, Linda Mantenuto of Woburn. She is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, eight loving great-grandchildren and her brother, Armand Allain of Colorado. In addition to her late parents, she is preceded in death by her son, the late Robert O. Millett Jr.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, January 8, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rita’s memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
