Marblehead — Mark Robert Carbone Jr., age 57, husband of Nancy (Green) Carbone) of Marblehead, died in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following a lengthy illness, on Tuesday evening, January 8, 2013. Born in Salem, the son of the late Mark and Lorraine (Berube) Carbone Sr., he was raised on South Street in Salem and attended local schools.
Following his graduation from Salem High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years with great pride and enthusiasm. During his tours of duty at the end of Vietnam, he was primarily stationed in the Pacific Rim and Japan. Following his discharge, Mark followed his childhood and lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles. He was certified at the General Motors Mechanic School in Detroit, Mich. and then was employed by Davey Chevrolet for several years. He was fantastic at problem solving and later worked for American Sweeping as a mechanic and trouble shooter until retiring. He was a man who took pleasure in the simple things in life and appreciated nature. He frequently visited Crocker Park in Marblehead, loved to fish and be on the water and enjoyed sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joshua Chick of Danvers; a daughter, Jamie Carbone of Salem and a brother, David Carbone of Peabody.
