Beverly — Herbert J. West, III., age 52, died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at his mother’s home in Beverly, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.
Born at the Naval Hospital in Chelsea, he lived in Somerville, Alexandria Va., Syracuse N.Y. and Beverly. He was a loving son of Claire West of Beverly and Herbert J. West, Jr. of Sanborn, N.C. He graduated from Beverly High School, attended North Shore Community College and Suffolk University, Boston.
He was employed at Ann & Hope for six years in the electronic department and as a UPS driver for 14 years. He enjoyed gardening, fixing his home, building computers with his son and most of all singing Karaoke in the North Shore.
He is survived by his daughter Shawna M. West; ex-wife Elayne West of Danvers; a sister Christine F. West and a brother Paul T. West of Beverly; nephew Ryon C. West of Bingham, Maine. He was preceded in death by his son Erick J. West and his brother Gregory West.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial at North Beverly Cemetery following the Mass.
