Geraldine Helen Bolt, 87

Somerville — Geraldine Helen (Rea) Bolt of Somerville, passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Epoch Melrose on February 4, 2013. She was the loving wife of Lawrence G. Bolt of Somerville, enjoying 61 years of marriage.

Born in Charlestown in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Nora (Mahoney) and Jim Rea. She was a resident of Somerville since 1953. She lived in Medford in her early years and was a graduate of St. Clement High School in Somerville and later a faithful parishioner at St. John the Evangelist in North Cambridge for over 50 years, working in the rectory and the Ladies Guild and every other function that was needed. She was an early education teacher in the Headstart program when it first started in Somerville and worked at the RMV for a number of years. She was involved in a number of organizations and also a member of the AOH in Watertown where she enjoyed her friends from North Cambridge in her later years.

In addition to her loving husband Larry, whom she married in 1951, she was a loving mother of six children, William and his wife Noreen of Beverly, Robert and his wife Stephanie of Peterborough, N.H., Elizabeth Hardy of Malden, Kathleen and her husband Tom Tarbox of North Reading, Theresa and her husband Des Keogh of Barnstable, and Daniel and his wife Marianne of Medford. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Elissa, Julia and Kristin Bolt of Peterborough, N.H., Sarah, Margaret and Brendan Bolt of Beverly, Samantha and Nathaniel Bolt of Medford, Megan Hardy of Malden and Andrew and Katie Tarbox of North Reading; sister of Jim Rea of Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret “Sr. M. Errico CSJ”

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Mass Ave., North Cambridge, on Thursday at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Cambridge, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours today 4-8 p.m. Burial at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne, on Thursday at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Saint Joseph, 97 Bethany Road, Framingham, MA 01702.
