Ruth "Jean" Collins

Swampscott, MA — Ruth “Jean” Collins, of Swampscott, passed away at her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on April 27, 2013. Jean was born in Lynn on January 10, 1925, to the late Ruth (Scott) Leary and the late Albert R. Leary. She graduated from Swampscott High School, Class of 1943. Jean was married to John E. Collins and enjoyed 48 years of marriage before his passing in 1994.

Jean worked as a library clerk at Swampscott High School for many years. Her retirement provided her with the time and opportunity to enjoy her precious grandchildren of whom she was so proud. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott.

Jean loved spending time with her family and friends. Always more concerned for the welfare of those around her, she seldom thought of herself, making light of her own cares.
