Salem — Mrs. Doris Gonzalez Rosario, 62, of Salem, died unexpectedly Monday, May 6, 2013, at her home.
Born in the Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Ramon and Cecelia (Rosario) Gonzalez. She was raised and educated in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States in 1980, settling first in New York, and in 1982, moved to Salem, where she has since resided.
Doris served the Lord and her church as the Head of the Hispanic Catholic Ministry in the City of Salem.
A dedicated and devoted communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem, Doris served as the Leader for the Hispanic Community at the Immaculate and formerly at St Joseph’s Church in Salem. Doris served the church and her fellow Christians in many ways, from leading Bible study to alter serving to co-ordination of the Spanish festival at the Immaculate Conception. She was committed to her religion, prayer and fellow Christian. Doris’s spiritual presence will always be with those of the Hispanic Community of Salem and her memory and everlasting devotion to others will never be forgotten.
A loving mother, grandmother and friend, Doris loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her travels to the Dominican to visit other family members. She will be deeply missed.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Kathy Perez and her husband, Jose Segura of Lynn; her son, Elvis A. Perez of Salem; her grandchildren, Noel, Nelson and Nadia Segura, Emily, Emil, Gabriel and Ainsley Perez; and many extended family, friends and her church family at the Immaculate Conception in Salem.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
