Westbury, NY — Madeline Perney, 88, of Westbury, N.Y., died on April 29, 2013, in Marblehead.

After a career as a New York fashion model in her youth, and as a loving mom who brought up 3 daughters, and a busy career in real estate, Madeline found her true calling along with her husband, George Perney, as a successful entrepreneur. Their company, called “The Bag Lady” was founded in the early 1970’s, and is still in business today. It produces and sells Mylar wine and gift bags for stores and shops throughout the country. Madeline built the business from a small local concern to a national supplier.

She is fondly remembered as a generous, loving, friend and neighbor. She was predeceased by her husband, George Perney, and daughter, Linda Perney. She will be missed by her daughters, Suzann Perney Niemeyer and Janice Perney Stanley of Marblehead, Mass.; and her granddaughter, Jessica Stanley of San Francisco, Calif.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church, Hicksville, N.Y. at 10 a.m. on Friday. Burial to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, N.Y.
