TOPSFIELD — Mrs. Julia M. (O'Leary) McArdle, 80, of Topsfield, a retired registered nurse, beloved wife of the late John J. McArdle, died Thursday evening, July 8, 2010 at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center in Beverly.
Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Michael D. and Ann (Welby) O'Leary, she was raised and educated in Brighton, and was a graduate of St. Columbkille Grammar and High School. She continued her education, earning her RN degree at St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing.
Mrs. McArdle had been employed for 18 years as the elementary school nurse in the Topsfield School Department until the time of her retirement in 1990. Prior to that, she worked as a labor, delivery, nursery and NICU nurse at the former Hunt Hospital in Danvers.
A resident of the Town of Topsfield since 1968, she was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Topsfield and was an associate of the Topsfield Board of Health. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed.
Julia is survived by her daughters, Maura Deems and her husband David of Boxford, and Jane Davin and her husband Joseph of Boxford; her son, Sean McArdle and his wife Donna of Boxford; her three grandchildren, Bryanne McArdle, Luke and Liam Deems; her sister, Mary Ann O'Leary of West Roxbury; her brother, Thomas O'Leary and his wife Mary of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late William O'Leary.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be held in St. Rose of Lima Church, Topsfield, at 10 a.m. on July 16, 2010. Relatives and friends are welcome. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield, immediately after the service. There will be no visiting hours.
