Mr. Donald G. Kelly, 76 years, formerly of Lynn, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, in a local nursing home after a long illness. He was born in Everett and raised in Lynn, the son of the late George and Marie (Gulliksen) Kelly. He was a 1954 graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He also attended Boston Music Conservatory for three years. He has lived in Lynn most of his life and the past few years in Peabody.
Mr. Kelly was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Marine Corps reservist from 1952 to 1954 serving with the 2nd Engineer Company until his enlistment with the Marine Corps in 1954. He served from 1954 to 1957 in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 64 in Lynn. He was a member of the Washington Street Baptist Church in Lynn. He also served as a member of the choir and a deacon at Washington Street Baptist Church. Mr. Kelly served as a Scoutmaster for Troop 3 at church. Mr. Kelly enjoyed reading, music, and watching television. Mr. Kelly was employed as a custodian for the former Lynn Plastics for 25 years until its closing in 2004.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his brothers Lawrence Kelly, John Kelly and his wife Leona, George Kelly, Paul Kelly and his wife Linda and a sister Ellen Lee Crowley, all of Lynn. He also leaves three nephews and six nieces.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rte. 129), Lynn. Burial will be in the Korean War Veterans lot at Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
