Salem — Rose J. (DeSantis) Lamarre, age 88, of Salem, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the NSMC/ Salem Hospital in Salem. She was the devoted wife of Rene C. Lamarre with whom she had shared 45 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Attilio and Natalina (Parsi) DeSantis. As a young woman, Rose owned a beauty shop located on Cabot Street in Beverly. She later worked for BOMAC in Beverly until her marriage to Rene in 1968.
The couple settled in Salem where she devoted her time to her family and her love of cooking. She was a member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Richard M. Lamarre and his wife Laura of Beverly, a granddaughter Rachel R. Lamarre of Beverly, a sister Madeline Redmond of Beverly, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack and sisters, Josephine, Laura, Louise and Gemma.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. (Rte. 114 / 1-A), Salem, on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 8 A.M. to be followed by her funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem, at 9 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours at the funeral home are on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M.
