Sarasota, FL — Estelle M. Barrett, 91, of Sarasota, FL, died peacefully, February 2, 2013, after a very full life. The daughter of the late Jacob and Lillian (Abraham) Mulwitz, Estelle was born in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Cornell University in 1942. Estelle married the late William H. Barrett and, together with their children, moved to Warsaw, Poland, in 1961 where Mr. Barrett worked as a lawyer with the US Embassy and Estelle served as assistant to the cultural attaché. After her husband’s death, in the early 1970s Estelle moved to Sarasota, FL, where she had a successful real estate career for over 30 years.
Estelle is survived by her daughter, Ronni Lacroute, of McMinnville, OR; son, Steven and his wife, Deborah, of Hamilton, MA; sister, Mimi Abrons, of Harrison, NY; grandchildren Philippe Lacroute and his wife, Salina, Nathalie Lacroute, Krisanne Butler and her husband, Matthew, Alexandra Barrett and her fiancé, Michael Sweet, and Timothy Barrett; great-grandchildren Kiana Lacroute, Madison Butler, William Butler, Ezra Lacroute and Evan Butler. She also enjoyed especially close relationships with her nephews and niece, Peter Abrons, Leslie Abrons, John Abrons and their families. She made many friends and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Estelle was a woman of great strength and style who had a passion for family, education, charity, and the arts. She will be missed by all of those who love her.
ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of Estelle’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, in The Member’s Lounge at The Mansion at Turner Hill, 3 Manor House Lane, Ipswich, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
