Joseph F. Dempsey, Sr., 79

Joseph F. Dempsey, Sr. of Cape Coral, FL, January 23, 2012, age 79.

Beloved husband of the late Joan (DeLacy) Dempsey. Devoted father of Joanne Dempsey & fiancée Gary Chabot of Grafton, MA; Joseph Dempsey Jr. & wife D'Maris of Green Brook, NJ; Patrick Dempsey & wife Melissa of Gloucester, MA; John Dempsey of Somerville, MA; Maryellen Del Pizzo & husband Frank of Fort Myers, FL. Dear brother of Theresa Devereaux & husband Edward of Peabody, MA; brother-in-law of Mary Lou Tracy, Richard Boudrot, Albert DeLacy & John DeLacy.

He is also preceded in death by his sisters Patricia Boudrot & Carol Dempsey and also his parents Katherine D. MacSweeney and Patrick Dempsey. He is also survived by six loving grandchildren: Connor, Brian, Madison, Cameron, Nicholas & Gianna. Uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. Former resident of Somerville, MA, and moved to Florida after a long career at General Electric.

A graduate of St. Clement High School, veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, avid sports fan and enjoyed Red Sox Spring Training in FL. Friends and relatives are kindly invited to a funeral Mass on Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clements Church in Medford, MA.

ARRANGEMENTS: Services will conclude with Joseph being laid to rest with his beloved wife in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, may they rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd, Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92507, www.semperfifund.org.

    Born in Lynn, the son of the late Canio and Teresa (Cancellara) Civiello, he was educated at the Highland Elementary School and was a graduate of the Lynn Vocational School, in the Class of 1949. Mr. Civiello joined the Army Reserve in 1949 and was placed on active duty in 1952 during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1954, Mr. Civiello remained on reserve duty until receiving his permanent discharge in 1960.
