Salem — Michael F. Morrissey, of Salem, passed away on Friday June 14, 2013, at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Mike was born January 23, 1967, in Boston. He grew up in both Saugus and West Boxford, and graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in Topsfield in 1985. He entered the U.S. Air Force and remained active at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, N.Y., until honorably discharged in 1990. Mike also earned a certificate in computer technology from ITT Technical Institute.
Mike is survived by his two children, Michael Morrissey and Victoria Morrissey of Amesbury; fiancé, Hope Moore, of Salem; parents, Sandra Severin of Danville, N.H., and Francis Morrissey of Saugus; sister, Kristine Morrissey of Springvale, Maine; sister, Robin Collins of Framingham; brother Joseph DeFeo of Saugus; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike was an avid lover of animals, music, concerts and Boston sports. Mike was very good with his hands, he was great at fixing things and was an excellent cook.
Mike was an active parish member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Salem. He also volunteered his time to help the Lifebridge Salem organization.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mike was laid to rest privately by his family on June 27, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody. A Memorial Mass and reception will be held on Saturday September 7, at 4 p.m., at The Immaculate Conception Church, 30 Union St., Salem.
