Bradford — Mr. Eugene R. Dionne, 87, of Bradford, formerly of Salem, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in a local nursing home, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (LeBlanc) Dionne. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Soucy) Dionne. He lived in Salem for many years, and had lived in Bradford since 1981. Eugene served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees Construction Batallion during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He and his crew were responsible for building Quonset huts. He worked as a millwright for Turner Tanning in Peabody, AC Lawrence Leather in Peabody, and Foss Manufacturing in Haverhill, until his retirement in 1985. A hard worker, he also enjoyed dancing, socializing and travel.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Bouchard and her husband, Guy, of Beverly; three sons, Paul Dionne and his wife, Sydney, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Roger Dionne and his wife, Denise, of Breckinridge, Colo., and Mark Dionne of Danvers; two grandchildren, Roger and Christopher Bouchard of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held on Friday, at 9:30 a.m., from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St., Route 1A, Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Anne’s Church in Salem at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
