Miriam L. Hooper, 95


Marblehead — Miriam L. (Laaka) Hooper, 95, died Monday, March 18, 2013, in the Lafayette Nursing Home, Marblehead. She was the wife of the late Emery Hooper.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Svande and Annie (Ollikainen) Laaka, Miriam lived for a time in Cushing, ME, and Cambridge, MA, before moving to Hamilton in 1965, where she lived until recently moving to Marblehead. She worked for 45 years as a bookkeeper for Alden Press in Boston before retiring.

Miriam is survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren including Robert Hooper of Marblehead. Along with her parents, Miriam was predeceased by her first husband, Arvoz Jolkinen who died in 1965. She was also the sister of the late Robert Laaka

ARRANGEMENTS: According to Miriam's wishes, funeral services are private and under the direction of the Berube & Sons Funeral Home of Salem.
