IPSWICH — Janet B. (Rowland) Hunt, 70, wife of Bruce D. Hunt of North Ridge Road, Ipswich, died Friday, March 15, 2013, in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center, Beverly, following her long illness.
Born in New London, Conn., February 9, 1943, one of the five children of the late Joseph M. and Janet (Amadon) Rowland, she was a 1961 graduate of Morgan High School in Clinton, Conn. She went on to graduate in 1964 from the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing where she met her husband to be. Married in 1965, the Hunts lived in Salem for two years, moving in 1967 to their current home in Ipswich. For ten years Mrs. Hunt was employed as an R.N. at the North Shore Children’s Hospital in Salem.
With a grown family, she returned to work at the former Caldwell Nursing Home and former Coburn Home in Ipswich. Beth, as she was known, was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Beth’s love of crafts was shown by the many hours she spent sharing her talent with her grandchildren. She spent many years heading Brownies and Girl Scout troops and Vacation Bible school, where she shared her gift of crafting with many more children.
In addition to her husband of forty-seven years she is survived by a son Bruce P. Hunt of Sarasota, Fla.; three daughters, Wendy L. Jensen of Ipswich, Heidi B. Davis and her husband Kevin of Winter Haven, Fla., and Ashley N. Hunt of Ipswich; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Rowland of Florida and Larry Rowland of Delaware; two sisters, Muriel Horowitz of Connecticut and Ina Brown of Minnesota, many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held 8 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2013, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich, preceded by a time of visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
