Phyllis E. Doherty, 100


Beverly — Phyllis E. (McLeod) Doherty, 100, beloved wife of the late Harold L. Doherty, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Blueberry Hill HealthCare Center in Beverly.

Born, raised and educated in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Emily C. (Mansell) McLeod.

Mrs. Doherty had been employed for many years at Varian in Beverly until the time of her retirement.

A longtime resident of Beverly at Turtle Woods, she had many friends who met daily, often calling themselves the "Chat Room." Mrs. Doherty was also a lifelong blood donor.

She is survived by a son, Brian W. Doherty of Beverly; a daughter, P. Anderena Wallace of Hampton Falls, N.H.; six grandchildren, Phillip Jodoin, Jill Perry, Kelley Ann Doherty, Kristin Bucci, Bruce Doherty Jr. and Derek Elfstrom; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth E. Banks of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Roberta E. Elfstrom and Bruce L. Doherty, and sister of the late Donald H. McLeod and Gordon McLeod.

ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial Funeral Services will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
