William F. O'Keefe, 82

Beverly — William F. O’Keefe, 82, passed away on May 17, 2013, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of the late Claire T. (Walsh) O’Keefe.

Born in Quincy on March 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Evangeline (Jackson) O’Keefe. He graduated from Boston English School in 1948. Bill served our country with the First Marine Division of United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart with a Star, the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and R.O.K. Korean War Service Medal. He was a resident of Beverly for nearly 60 years. Bill was employed as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years. He was also a member of the D.A.V. #84 in Salem. Bill leaves many friends at the Anchor Pub.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, William P. O’Keefe and his wife, Assunta, of Lynn, Kathleen Brown and her husband, John, of Rowley, Mike O’Keefe and his wife, Kathy, of Danvers, and Daniel O’Keefe and his wife, Angela, of Ipswich; his grandchildren, Christina, Paul, Timothy and William O’Keefe, Brian, Jason, Kevin and Allison O’Keefe and Aidan O’Keefe; a great-granddaughter, Isabella; a great-grandson, Braedan; and a brother, Joseph O’Keefe of Avon. He was predeceased by siblings, Jeremiah and James O’Keefe, Rosemary Myers, Dorothy Gagnon, Frances Gregory, Barbara Byrnes, Eva Smith and infant brother, Daniel.

ARRANGEMENTS: His Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Calvary Christian Church, 47 Grove St., Lynnfield. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake Street, Peabody. Visiting hours are Wednesday for 4 to 7 p.m. at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to the D.A.V. #84, P.O. Box 945, Salem, MA 01970 or the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
