Ipswich — Sister Ellen Marie Kennedy, S.N.D., 103, of Ipswich, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2013, at the Sisters of Notre Dame Julie Billiart Retirement Center in Ipswich. Sister Ellen Marie was born in Lawrence, on March 2, 1910, daughter of Patrick A. and Ellen T. (Walsh) Kennedy. Sister Ellen Marie entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on February 2, 1928, at Waltham and professed her Perpetual Vows on July 30, 1936. Sister attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emmanuel College and her Master's from Assumption College. Her ministries were in Hudson, Woburn, West Newton, South Boston, East Boston, Brighton, Cambridge, Lynn, Somerville, Salem, Lawrence, Wenham and Ipswich. Sister Ellen Marie is survived by her many Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur family; her nephews and their spouses, Kevin and Patti McLatchy and their son Niles McLatchy, and Brian and Judy McLatchy; and her many cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Grace M. Kennedy and Rita Kennedy McLatchy.

ARRANGEMENTS: Sister Ellen Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame.
