Louise M. (Dluznieska) MacNeil, age 89, wife of Raymond MacNeil of Danvers, died Sunday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
She was born in Peabody, the daughter of the late Steven and Stella Dluznieska. Louise and Ray were married for 63 years. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1940. She was awarded the George Peabody Medal for Honors at her graduation.
Louise worked at the Ivory System in Peabody, where she first met Ray 70 years ago. She also worked for a few years at A.H. Whidden Hardware in Peabody. She then worked for 29 years at Salem Hospital as a Medical Records Transcriptionist. Louise had a gift for words; medical terms were never a problem. Once she saw a word and the spelling, it was hers. She loved the job and always said that she would have done it for free.
Louise was an excellent seamstress, making her own clothes from an early age. As her family grew, she made beautiful hand-sewn heirloom quilts for each of her children, grandchildren and friends.
Louise is survived by five children, Barbara Lynch and Tom Bachini of Danvers, Dick MacNeil and his wife Candy, Marcia MacNeil, Don and Jane MacNeil, and Jack MacNeil of Reston, VA, and sisters, Jennie Joyce of Danvers, Margaret Sarowsky of Peabody, and Blanche Sikes of Virginia. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Heather Lynch, Elizabeth and her husband Kevin Toerne, Jessica Lynch, Lauren and her husband Evan Simons, Elyse Kearney and Jeff MacNeil, as well as two great-grandchildren, Sam and Ben, and many nieces and nephews.
