Mary Alice Gilbert, 93, passed away peacefully at her home of over 50 years, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born January 26, 1919. She was the daughter of the late George C. and Teresa (Callahan) Carlton. Mary and her late husband Norman Gilbert shared 39 loving years together. Mary enjoyed, cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family sharing laughs and making wonderful memories that will be cherished by all.
She is survived by 8 children and 3 stepchildren. Joanne and Dennis Cook of Lithia, FL, Nancy Granville of Danvers, Bonnie and Norman Regan of Peabody, Mary and Richard Butler of Groveland, Betty and Al Correia of Rowley, Richard and Marie Gilbert of Brentwood, NH, Daniel Gilbert of Peabody, Norma and William Harris of Peabody, Robert and Rebecca Gilbert of Beverly, William and Diane Gilbert of Nashua, NH, Claire and Don Atkinson of Hudson, Fl; a sister Edith Colbert; 30 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 22 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her late son Charles C. Cook., her sister and brother in law Joseph and Elizabeth Delaney and her brother in law Edward Colbert

ARRANGEMENTS: Her visiting hours will be on Thursday, March 29, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.), Salem. Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday March 30, 2012, at 10 A.M. in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody, MA.
