Saugus — Mrs. Doris G. (Gillespie) Smith, 98 years, died at the Masconomet Nursing Center in Topsfield. She was the wife of the late Attorney James O. Smith.

Born, raised and a lifelong resident of Saugus, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Vatcher) Gillespie. Mrs. Smith was a member of the St. John’s Guild at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Saugus and the Tontoquon Chapter of Eastern Star. A hairdresser in her early years, Mrs. Smith worked at the Saugus Sears store until the age of 81.

She is survived by two sons; James O. Smith and his wife Joan of Danvers, David B. Smith and his wife Susan of Manchester, N.H; five grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Hazel Parker, Samuel Gillespie, Irene Greenlay, Vivian Chambers, Lillian Mae Scott, Isabelle Grimes and William H. Gillespie, Jr.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Relatives & friends invited.
