Robert N. Goodell, 87


Hillsborough, New Jersey — Robert was born in Cambridge, and formerly of Beverly, before moving to Hillsborough in 1958. He was employed as a chemist for over 44 years working at Onyx Chemical Co in Jersey City and then for Betz Laboratories in Trevose, Pa. retiring in 1995. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a BS degree in Chemistry. Robert was a veteran of the US Navy serving as Quartermaster Second Class during World War II. He was a member of Somerset Aerie #2137 Eagles in Bridgewater, the VFW Post 2290 in Manville and was president of the Over the Hall Gang in Somerville. In 1941 Robert won the Massachusetts State Championships in Cross-Country Running. He was an avid bridge player and especially enjoyed playing blackjack at Atlantic City and Bethlehem, Pa., casinos. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is predeceased by his wife Marlene who passed away in May 2012. Surviving are his sons, Randy, Scott, and Dustan; a sister, Anne Mc Gravey; a cousin Eleanor Hooton; seven grandchildren, Todd, Jessica, Samantha, Paula, Sara, Taylor and Mark and three nephews, Patrick, Kristopher and Richard.

ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial services will be 12noon November 2, 2012, beginning with a 11am visitation at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 North Gaston Ave., Somerville. Interment will follow at New Cemetery with Military honors in Somerville.
