Dayton, Maine — Michael Knight, 59, of Dayton, died unexpectedly Friday, November 9, 2012 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born November 30, 1952 in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of Casimir A. and Carol K. (Bodden) Knight.
Michael was educated in Beverly and graduated from Malden Catholic High School and the former St. Francis College in Biddeford.
He had been employed as a social worker at Woodford’s Adult Services and was currently employed at York County Community Action.
Mr. Knight was a member of St. Philip’s Church in Lyman. He was an avid hunter, golfer, bowler, local artist and gardener and enjoyed creating sculptures with stones. Mike also found the time to coach his sons teams in the Youth Hockey and Little and Senior League Baseball Programs.
Preceding him in death were his sister, Denise Knight in 2001 and his father Casimir, in 2007.
Surviving him are one daughter, Erin Gaudette and her husband Shawn of Arundel; two sons, Stephen Knight of So. Portland, Adam Knight of Miami, Fla.; two grandchildren, Parker and Blake Gaudette; his mother, Carol Bodden Knight of Beverly; one sister, Kris Murray of Mexico Maine; two brothers, Kevin Knight and his wife Jane, Stephen Knight and his wife Judy all of Beverly. He was the uncle of Erik, Nicole, Brittney, Jessica, Ryan and Matthew.
Michael was an advocate for those in need always reaching out to those less fortunate. He was so proud of his children and their accomplishments and took great pride in his social work.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, at St. Philip’s Church in Lyman.
